Some of the skills learned in my clinics are detailed below. I can customize a clinic for anyone that would like to host a clinic. I work with each individuals skill level to improve confidence, communication, and leadership skills for both the individual and their horse. The clinic details below provide the foundation to horsemanship. My clinics can go beyond these basics to provide a higher level of horsemanship for those seeking it. I can tailor a clinic to your group.
Most clinics begin with the morning of groundwork and the afternoon of riding using the skills learned on the ground and applying them under saddle.
Correct haltering, saddling, bridling, and mounting will be practiced throughout all clinics.
Skills learned will be backing up, sending, sending your horse in a circle, lateral flexion, disengagement, walk/trot transitions, one rein stop and desensitization. These skills will be applied in a variety of ways on the ground and under saddle.
Depending on the number and/or skills of the clinic participants, round pen tasks may be performed.
Adding to those skills we will be introducing the leg yield, stopping, vertical flexion, and mounting from the fence.
Vertical flexion with a right bend and a left bend, obtaining vertical flexion at the walk, backing with vertical flexion, and stopping with vertical flexion.
Wash rack, bridge, u-turn, plus a variety of other creative scary objects. We will be applying skills learned to maneuver our horses over, thru and between objects both on the ground and under saddle.
Leg yield in a square, counterturn, and desensitization with movement.
Refinement of leg yield, disengagement, backing, left and right bends, stopping with vertical flexion.
Beginning ground driving. This task involves individual round pen time with each participant.
Intermediate Ground driving. You will need two 22' ropes and a string to tie your stirrups together. Again this task requires individual round pen time.
Advanced Ground driving involves leg yields while driving, suspension at the walk and trot.
